Well, it seems i have too much time on my hands right now. While juggling seminary, 7classes, Church, Scouts, Homework, and friends, i still have time while i do nothing at all wishing i was doing something. i mean, when I'm done with whatever I'm doing, i will just sit there and listen to music. i mean Music is just amazingly awesome already, but i could listen to my music while i do something. So anyways i decided to take up a sport that i thought would be fun. Can anyone guess what sport I'm taking? Ill give you a few hints.
1. You Get really sweaty.
2. The Room smells really bad after every day.
3. The team is made up with mostly boys, with a couple of girls thrown in.
Can you guess it yet? One more hint.
4. You get on a mat and do something in "leotard" with some other person in a "Leotard" and get all sweaty for 4 2 minute sessions.
That's Right! You Guessed it! I'm in Wrestling! The good old Sport where the men work out, dress in a skin-tight singlet and wrestle with each other on a soft mat, get all sweaty and tired, and find ways to hurt or pin the other person. But as i look back on Tuesday, my first practice day, i just have to think, "What was i thinking?!?"
I didn't realize how hard this sport was going to be. After the first practice day, i could barely walk. it hurt so badly that at home, i didn't want to move. When i had to climb up the 2 Flights of stairs to get to my science class, i was holding on to the railing with both hands, literally pulling myself up the steps with my arms. Coming down, i had to hold myself up by holding the railing with both hands trying as hard as i could, to not fall on my face going down the stairs. Now please take a moment to imagine that scene as i described it in your mind.
Done yet? Good. Now for the Drill day, where we learn and practice all our moves, the coach put me with a Senior wrestler, who was very good and knew what he was doing. As it turned out, he was way better than i had imagined. The wrestler's name, Travis, had been wrestling since he was a freshman and had taken it very seriously. He had been able to LIFT me OFF the GROUND, and basically throw me back down. Travis was tossing me around like a rag doll. And the worst thing was that, as we were being taught moves, he showed me how to do them, then practice them on me. I would be able to try them out too, but he took most of the time.
Then on Friday, was the run day. We ran over five miles that day. We did 50, 100, and 150 sprints up a large hill, then wrestled for an hour. just kidding! we didn't wrestle for the hour, but the running was true enough. Surprisingly, as i think back, i liked it. It gave me time to think, and it calmed me down, and like i said, just let me think. So now that i think back on ALL of that, I'm glad i chose to take that sport. But of Course, this is just the conditioning for preseason. i wonder what the regular practices will be like. HHHmmmmmm...
Niiiiiice. Don't forget about when you broke like 9 bones in a month.
